Living Hope began as a personal passion of Robert W. (Bob) Walters of LaGrange, GA.  Bob began traveling to rural mountains of Honduras in the late 1980's.  By 2011 Bob became concerned for the future of the work as he grew older, so it was decided to form a 501.c.3 nonprofit corporation entrusted with the growth and development of the mission.
Today Living Hope for Honduras is a whole-ministry outreach serving the rural mountainous region of north-eastern Honduras.  What began as an effort to plant a few churches and help families, has grown into an expanding outreach serving communities, schools, churches and families in many areas.   Presently the work includes:
  • 17 church plants
  • more than 150 children sponsored in school grades 6-12
  • 18 college students sponsored in university studies
  • a compound that has hosted 19 mission teams in 2018
  • dairy farm
  • children home housing 12 girls
Living Hope is governed by a board of directors from across
the United States.  Gary Kirkendall serves as the Executive
Director.  Honduran leaders include:
